Viaplay

Prepare for whiplash! Viaplay, the Nordic streamer that shut down its North American service as of March 1 is back, this time as a Prime Video channel. This came as a surprise to us reviewers, who found out on April 17 that the channel was being offered via Prime. On a practical level, what this means is there is no longer a Viaplay app or direct-to-consumer service; you can only access Viaplay content via Comcast, The Roku Channel, Xumo, or now, as a Prime Video channel. The price remains $5.99 a month. If you, like me, previously subscribed to the Viaplay direct-to-consumer service, you will have to get a new subscription via one of these other avenues.

At first glance, it appears that the content remains intact from its previous iteration, and the PR department has announced some new releases, such as Furia, season 2, premiering April 25, and Börje-The Journey of a Legend, about NHL great Börje Salming, premiering May 2.

You can sign up for Viaplay North America on Prime here.
